Advent Season
The word Advent means “coming.” This four-week season is a gift of JESUS for all to prayerfully prepare for HIS coming.
Advent is a time of joy. Joy is contagious when we obey JESUS’ command to love others. Through HIS heart, we see other people as equally beloved by GOD. For the privilege of being children of GOD, joy bubbles.
Advent is a time of hope. Hope in JESUS’ forgiveness, in the chance to be better, in the knowledge that we are all destined for holiness, and that heaven is for everyone.
Advent is also a time to grow. Not in stature, but grow in love of JESUS. Love especially for HIS Cross. If our holy GOD suffered, why should we sinners be spared? The path to spiritual maturity is just a name away.
Advent is a time of acceptance. In a sense, we are under-shepherds of JESUS. JESUS has honored us to do all HE did in HIS name. Our thoughts, words, and actions influence people, and a GOD-led life teaches those around us. Advent is the time to accept this challenge of JESUS to be CHRIST-like.
We can do more than all these, in JESUS’ holy name. It could be that we need not wait, for JESUS has come into our lives in advance!
