The story of Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph retold in ‘Panawduaw’
They travelled far and wide, just like they did to escape certain death by going to Egypt.
Today, members of the Holy Family Parish travel like pilgrims from chapel to chapel looking for warmth and joy, and they find what they seek in the waiting arms of protective small Christian communities around Dumoy and Baliok in Talomo, Davao City.
This is the highlight of “Panawduaw” or pilgrimage where Baby Jesus, Mother Mary and Foster Father Joseph seek safe haven, and are welcomed wherever they went: in GKK chapels, schools, barangay office from November 3 to December 10, leading to the joyous feast of the Holy Family on December 27, the patronal fiesta of the Holy Family parish.
The Holy Family Parish priest Fr. Ricky Peñalosa made sure not only the 33 GKKs would feel the presence of the travelling Holy Family Icon, but also the seven (7) schools, Dumoy and Baliok barangay offices. He explained that “Panawduaw” was also an occasion to give inputs to the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) which will be held in January 2016 in Cebu.
Parish Worship Ministry coordinator Mr. Rey Ian M. Sarroza told the Davao Catholic Herald that the IEC inputs precede the celebration of the Pilgrimage Mass in the GKK chapels, set at 7:15PM, in schools at 1:30PM, and in the barangay office at 3PM.
Like in previous patronal fiesta celebrations, the Holy Family fiesta brings out the spirit of Faith, Hope and Charity among parishioners who renew their pledge of support to their parish for its various projects as they deepen their relationship with Baby Jesus, Mama Mary and Papa Joseph.
