Parish formators taught how to echo ‘Laudato Si’
Tips on delivering ‘Laudato Si’ to the parishioners like the creative workshops on the ‘seven days of re-creating the world’ or the ‘glorious, joyful, sorrowful and luminous mysteries of the environment’, or the like was one of the highlights of the biblico-theological reflection formation organized by the Kahiusahan sa mga Layko sa Mindanao (KaLaMi), in partnership with Formation Ministry of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish (OLLP) in Bangkal, in Ateneo de Davao University, Jacinto campus, last October 25, 2015. Formators from OLLP formators, San Pedro Cathedral, Our Mother of Perpetual Help (Redemptorist) Parish in Bajada, Saint Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish in Buhangin, San Alfonso de Ligouri Parish in Mandug, and Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Ma-a joined the session.
Guest speaker Mr. Lunar Tan Fayloga, a theology professor of the same university said: “I was so glad that the KaLaMi and the OLLP Formation Ministry initiated the formation on this wonderful encyclical of Pope Francis on the environment; this has not been conducted in most parishes in our Archdiocese.” He added, “To love more our environment and to care for our common home, we must appreciate Saint Francis de Assisi.”
Theology professor of the University of the Immaculate Conception Mr. Shariff Flores also shared his three-point theological reflection on the chapters of “Laudato Si” based on the presentation of Mr. Fayloga. His in-depth reflection insights of the six chapters helped the formators understand more the need to care for Earth as a common home.
“Through this session, I can now appreciate fully the connection between theology and science; I was thinking on how we can re-echo this to our parishioners,” said one of the participants. (Vonz Hijada / OLLP SoCCom)
