Living Rosary Offered at Vocation Jamboree

It is October. It is the Month of the Holy Rosary!

But, before the Rosary Month launching held last October 1, almost seven hundred (700) young participants from different schools and parishes in the Archdiocese of Davao found meaning in making this prayer alive at the annual Archdiocesan Vocation Jamboree held at the Regional Major Seminary, last September 26.

The morning session ended solemnly as the participants prayed the Living Rosary together. Prior to the praying of the Rosary, the participants got to meet vocation advocates like sisters and brothers from different congregations who shared their experiences inside the small groups. They were also inspired by the words of the speaker, Rev. Fr. Danny Montaña who elaborated on the theme, “Vocation to the Consecrated Life: Share Joy, Share Love in Serving the Lord.” Fr. Montaña who belongs to the Rogationist Heart of Jesus shares, “I am Consecrated, I belong to the Lord.” He elaborated that having a consecrated life is a choice and it is about encountering the Lord. “It is a life-filled with love and joy.”

This annual celebration is a festival of vocation, since it aims to help the youth identify by discernment their vocation and follow it. By praying to Jesus through Mama Mary, it is hoped that the young will be freed from fear and will listen to God’s calling. “God is calling you. Do not be afraid. Listen to His voice,” remarks Fr. Bordios in an interview.

The Archdiocesan Vocation Director of Davao was delighted because of the support of the Archdiocese in making this event possible.

Aside from praying the Rosary, booths were also installed around the venue which showcased the activities of religious congregations that are present in the local Church of Davao. Presentations from schools and selected vocation promoters were also enjoyed by the audience.

The gathering was concluded with a Mass celebrated by Abp. Romulo G. Valles, D.D. who reminded those who were present that they are called to a joyful journey and that the eternal good news of the Lord is what they have to carry.

The vocation month culmination was organized by the Archdiocese of Davao Vocation Office and the Davao Vocation Promoters (DVP). (Corrine Grace Casia | Kalakbay)
