Men of the Scripture: ISAAC
ISAAC — His name means “He Laughs.”
He was the first star in the sky full of stars that God had promised to Abraham. And he became the living embodiment of the promise of God. Even in the most difficult situation of famine while living in a strange land, he had enjoyed a peaceful and prosperous life.
His work: Isaac was an accomplished farmer and herdsman.
His character: He was the only son of Abraham and Sarah. In his young age, and through the faithfulness of his father, he had witnessed the true meaning of obedience. He was known as gentle and hardworking.
His Sorrow: By the deception of his son Jacob, he was victimized. As an old and feeble man, he had given the blessing that he had intended for his older son, Esau.
His Triumph: Isaac is considered as one of the three great patriarchs even nowadays.
Promises: “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and He adds no trouble to it”, Proverbs 10:22
“The Lord blesses his people with peace”, Psalm 29:11
Legacy in the Bible: Genesis 25: 1-31
Reflection: Let our daily prayer opens the door and enables us to become generous persons to one another. God’s promises are always in the form of blessings of good health, wealth, children, land, peace, and long life. Let us give thanks to God for the ways He has already blessed us and for all the ways He yet intends to bless us. And ask God to richly bless your life as you seek to follow Him. (Edgardo R. Sara)
