8th Mati Citihood Day and 12th Pujada Bay Fest 2015 (Mati Newsbits)
GISAULOG sa Siyudad sa Mati ang ilahang ika-walo nga Citihood Day ug ika-12 nga Pujada Bay Festival Hunyo 15-19, 2015, nga puno sa diwa sa pasasalamat ug paglaum alang sa ekonomikanhong kalamboan.
Gisugdan ang mga kalihokan sa kasaulogan sa Santos nga Eukaristiya sa Emmanuel Pelaez Activity Center agig pagpasalamat sa Diyos sa tanang mga panalangin ug grasya sulod sa mga katuigan. Sa Opening Ceremony, gihulagway ni Mayor Carlo Rabat ang kausaban kon “transformation of Mati into a fast growing and developing city that opens doors of opportunities for investments, active economic activities, entrepreneurship, and employment…ako gyung gipang-apod-apod ang mga benepisyo sa cityhood ngadto sa 26 nga mga barangay sa siyudad aron ma-feel nila ang kusug nga suporta sa local nga panggamhanan.”
Ang mga kalihokan sa Baywalk Park naglangkob sa Barangay Pasasalamat matag gabii, Agri-Tourism Trade Fair, Fantasea, Pujada Bay Fest Banca Race, Kanato Ini Job Fair sa Pelaez gym, Mutya ng City of Mati 2015 sa Mati Socio-Cultural Center, ug sa katapusang gabii, ang Pasasalamat ni Mayor Carlo and Vice-Mayor Glenda sa Baywalk Park. Kahinumduman nga si Bise-Gobernador Mayo Almario sa panahon sa iyang pagka-Kongresista sa ikaduhang distrito sa Davao Oriental maoy mipanday sa balaudnon nga nagtukod sa Siyudad sa Mati, sa Akta Republika 9408. Samtang ang unang Pujada Bay Festival maoy usa ka joint venture sa Diyosesis sa Mati pinaagi sa Heart of Mary Station DXHM ug sa kanhi munisipyo karon siyudad sa Mati, ang LGU. DOSCST to open Banaybanay campus
THE Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology (DOSCST) will soon open another campus, the second for district two, and the third in the entire province. Dr. Roy Ponce, disclosed that the local government unit of Banaybanay purchased the lot of the former East West Colleges to be the site of the DOSCST Banaybanay campus. The Board of Directors is set to meet and put finality on the matter. The pursuit is in adherence to the thrust of quality education for all complied by the College, under the helm of College President Dr. Edito Sumile. Along with the focus on academic excellence, character formation of the students and upgrading equipment, the College is also gearing up towards infrastructure development. As yet, the plan is to construct new edifices, including a new administration building for the College. “We have the money because we are using our funds very properly,” Sumile stated. The two other campuses of DOSCST are in the municipalities of Cateel in the first district, and San Isidro in the second district.
On the other hand, as of the 3rd week of June, the State College recorded 9 thousand enrollees that could even go up to 11,000 as soon as the final documentation is done. However, Sumile reiterated that quantity is not the only thing that is important to them, but equally important is the quality of their graduates. “We want to produce graduates who are capable of protecting themselves, of facing the challenges that come along. We are preparing them for this. And we are proud that we had produced such graduates, who are now useful and model personalities in their respective communities.
DOSCST was established on Dec. 13, 1989 through Republic Act 6807 authored by Congresswoman Thelma Almario. The Guang-guang main campus is a 10-hectare lot donated by the Martinez family.
