Sea Encounter Calls For 16 Youth Leaders To Be Advocates For Marine Conservation

DAVAO CITY, Philippines July 5, 2015—Save Philippine Seas (SPS), in partnership with the U.S. Embassy of Manila, invites 16 environmental youth leaders in their 10th Grade to represent their school for the Sea Encounter: A Workshop Seminar and Exposure Trip to be held on July 26-27, 2015. Day 1 will be at ECHOstore Davao, Unit 1 Lenel Building, Robinsons Highland, Carlos P. Garcia Highway (Diversion Road) Buhangin, Davao City and Day 2 will be at the Davao Gulf area.

The Sea Encounter is a project of Save Philippine Seas in partnership with U.S. Embassy of Manila as a result of the Mindanao Sea and Earth Advocates (SEA) Camp held last May 9-15, 2015 in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. It aims to evoke youth interest by increasing awareness and understanding about marine conservation issues and ensure that the youth would be able to understand the potential threats and effects of neglecting.

The two-day event will cover a workshop seminar that will expose the participants to marine environmental setting. They will also be entitled to participate in fun and meaningful activities such as project workshop planning, snorkeling and group discussions. A minimal fee of Php 150 will be collected per participant to cover registration, food, materials, and snorkeling. Only one (1) youth leader can participate per school. Interested youths must coordinate with their respective school authorities and request them to email the organizer to confirm their participation.
