K of C confab follows Pope’s mandate on unity
THE Knights of Columbus (K of C) 10th National Convention held in SMX Convention, Davao City this month became a gesture of rave commitment despite security risks and safety concerns. With assured 24/7 closed monitoring of possible hot spots, more than 700 delegates enjoyed their stay. Mayor Duterte graced the occasion and welcomed all.
Guests of honor included Deputy Supreme Knight Logan T. Ludwig and wife, Lady Ina and other US-based members of K of C, Supreme Director Alonso L. Tan, and representatives of the Wheelchair Foundation from the K of C California State, who donated 10 brandnew wheelchairs, and Sir Knight Hilario G. Davide, Jr. For the Mindanao state hosts led by SK Balbino C. Fauni (Mindanao Deputy), the four-day convention was seemingly a daunting task, but as a saying goes, “No guts, no glory.”
It was themed as, “You will all be brothers: Our Vocation to Fraternity,” as inspired by Pope Francis’ message for World Day of Peace last 2014. He declared that we are called to be a community of brothers and sisters who accept and care for one another and serve as a leaven of reconciliation and unity for the whole human family.
Highlights include Welcome Ceremony, Color Corps Drill Competition, Mass with Abp. Valles, and barrio fiesta and raffle draw. The next convention will be in Iloilo City. (Butch Andama)
