University of Mindanao, Accountancy Program is the Region’s Best
The University of Mindanao recently posted more than half an increase in the passing rate of first time takers of the Certified Public Accountant licensure examinations, obtaining a higher passing rate than that of the national average.
Getting a 69.5% passing average rate for first time takers in the May 2015 exams, which is more than half of the country’s 35.78% average passing rate enabled the school to have the distinction of the best accountancy program in Davao region.
In the last CPA exams in October 2014, UM obtained the highest number of passing examinees with a passing percentage of 80.49% compared to the national average of only 37.02%.
The College of Accounting Education is also the fastest growing in the university, with an average of 2,000 enrollees every semester in the last two years.
From 2013, the accountancy course garnered 2,679 enrollees for the first semester that increased to 2,765 as of last enrollment.
The latest data showed that the University of Mindanao served 2,367 accountancy students as of the second semester of 2014-2015.
The College of Accounting Education also obtained the Model College award for continually pursuing excellence as proven in the licensure examination results, awards of their faculty and students, as well as its involvement in the university’s goals of internationalization.
