Advocate
Here is a simple, yet very touching sharing of a sister in the Charismatic Movement. Thanks Ate Vicky!

“Trusting on Jesus as He says, ‘It is better for me that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you.’” (John 16:7)
Dear KNOT,
I was a nominal Christian until Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) arrived in Davao which made me become actively involved in almost every local church activities especially in GKK and in charismatic communities. I retired early from office to personally take care of my three sons since my husband is almost always out-of-town for work.
Life as a full-time mother is very challenging, yet very fulfilling. We lived a happy life though we were also not spared of having trials and hardships. My husband lost his job, thus prompting us to sell everything we have, including our house just to be sustained and for our children not to stop schooling. Fortunately, my siblings were kind enough to have our ancestral home available for us to stay on temporarily and catered our basic needs until my husband finds a stable job.
During those times we struggled to let both ends meet, a familiar phrase caught my attention and struck me while reading an article in a magazine about the life of Job. It said, “If people fall on hard times, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are godly. Economic recession can cause to lose jobs. God cautions us that neither wealth nor poverty indicates spiritual standing.” I feel so blessed that God has given me so much grace to face reality. To sacrifice for others—to deny myself, to let go and move on. Presently, my 3 sons had their own respective careers. A doctor, and engineer and an educator. I am now a widow reaping and enjoying the benefits of being a senior citizen.
I have a lovely granddaughter who will be turning 9 years old this June and a very faithful dog which we consider as part of the family. In everything, to God be the glory! I love you Mama Mary! — Vicky Bello Perez
