The GKK (Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban) or BEC (Basic Ecclesial Communities) is a community of faith in which the workers for renewal – the laity, religious and the clergy – are meant to work together based on the experience of their community. It is dubbed as “a new way of being Church”. New, but not exactly original for there were already early Christian Communities during the time of the apostles (Acts 2:42,47)
Mudiang GKK’s Decades of Unity
“SEVENTY years ago, may gamay’ng pundok sa mga magtutuo nga nagtukod niining maong kapilya ug karong adlawa magpasalamat kita ug nagpasalamat pud ko ninyo nga through the years, gigunitan ninyo ang maong pagtoo nga hangtud karon buhi pa,” said Abp. Romulo Valles, DD during the 70th Thanksgiving Mass at GKK Sta. Cruz Mudiang, Zone 11 of St. Francis Xavier Parish of Tibungco, May 2.It was the culmination of the novena masses which started last April 24. Officiating priests were SFX Tibungco Parish Priest Fr. Severino A. Capulong, Jr., DCD.
GKK Sta. Cruz Mudiang of SFX, Tibungco was founded long before the existence of some GKKs here in Davao. Communion, participation, and sense of mission among the members of this community really work. (Vivien Therese Bonzon)
