DepEd Trained Implementers Ready for K-12

K-12 DepEdThe Department of Education (DepEd) has successfully conducted the Regional Mass Training of Grades 7, 8 and 9 teachers in all subjects which started summer of 2012. Moreover, the May 2015 batch for Grade 10 takes their time as it will be completed for Grades 11 and 12 two years from now. The department prepares for the implementation of the program along with other stakeholders like Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Local Government Units (LGUs), parents, teachers, students and the community.

DepEd Secretary Bro. Armin A. Luistro and colleagues gave a series of orientation of the program on websites particularly on seminars participated by teachers in the divisions of Davao City, Tagum City, Panabo City, Digos City, and Mati City. This is in partnership with DepEd administrators in Region XI, University of Mindanao and Ateneo de Davao University.

Trainers of the program emphasized on its implementation as it is perceived the right move to improve the country’s educational system. The Philippines adopted it later, compared with other countries in Asia. Thus, the roles of the trained teachers becomes significant in the transformation process, being class managers as they learn new trends in teaching that are applicable today.

Though others still see the program’s efficiency and possible threats, but the results remain to be discovered yet, as the implementation is still in its infant stage. There is still a long process to come up with a performance level assessment. Success would depend on how strong the collaboration is to make things happen, with satisfactory results on K-12.
