Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge 2015
The tri-buddies of Tagum City won this year’s Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge. It is the longest race in the Philippines in terms of distance. Led by Loy Dexter Nonato with Juanita Mahinay in racing, and Arvin Doroche as logistics crew, the team finished the race in 12 hours 56 minutes and 48 seconds beating the record last year.
The Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge is a 24 hour-race namely trekking, white water tubing and road running. It is the highlight of the annual “Pista sa Kinaiyahan” (Feast of Nature), an event anchored on the advocacy “Protect and save Mt. Apo”. A team is composed of 2 racers and logistics crew. Winners brought home P150K (grand prize); P100K (2nd prize), and P75K (3rd prize). Besides the Challenge, the “Pista ng Kinaiyahan 2015” also featured mangroves growing dubbed as, “Duaw kay Apo clean up and climb”, and a symposium on Anti-human Trafficking. (Jofaye Falcui)
