GKK leaders level off understanding on GKK norms

Two hundred seventy six (276) lay leaders from seven vicariates of the Archdiocese of Davao gathered at the Ascension of Our Lord Parish in GSIS last April 18, 2015, for the general orientation of the GKK Guidelines and Norms.

The orientation, facilitated by Vicky Anghag of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Office, was participated by 62 lay leaders from San Pedro Vicariate, 50 from Sacred Heart Vicariate, 44 from San Pablo Vicariate, 39 from Saint James Vicariate, 36 from Sto. Rosario Vicariate, 30 from Sta. Ana Vicariate, and 15 from Immaculate Conception Vicariate (IGACOS).

Bishop George Rimando summarized the Introduction and the Not-a-Final Word with emphasis on the values of communion, participation, co-responsibility, and mission towards becoming a Church for the poor. He also explained the Description and Nature of the GKK. Moreover, the Membership and Roles of Service was clarified by Fr. Pete Lamata who highlighted servant leadership. The Roles of Service was explained by Fr. Bong Dublan who defined the participatory community through facilitation, coordination and animation.

Bishop Rimando reviewed the details of Pastoral Formation and Skills Training; while Fr. Joel Caasi expounded on the remaining sections on the Establishment of GKK, Liturgical Celebrations, and the GKK Chapel.

The lay leaders in attendance were expected to echo the orientation on their respective parishes in a continuing journey as missionary disciples of the local Church in the archdiocese.

St. John the Baptist, Lasang GKK Coordinator Mr. Jun Topaz said that the orientation helped the participants a lot in understanding the content of the said booklet. The revised edition of the 1996 document was revised last year through a series of consultation. (Vonz Hijada)
