Training on the Year of the Poor
LAY leaders, religious and priests from different dioceses in Mindanao joined the three-day Trainors’ Training on the Year of the Poor at the Rivier Retreat House in Catalunan Grande, Davao City, April 20-April 22.
The facilitators came from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-National Secretariat for Social Action (CBCP-NASSA).
According to Fr. Leonardo Dublan, Jr., Social Action Director of Davao, the participants will deepen their understanding of the Year of the Poor especially on its Biblical context.
He added that they will also learn about the Church’s response to the plight of the poor and her social teachings on how to be a Church of the poor and for the poor.
The 40 participants (from the dioceses of Davao, Digos, Tagum, Mati, Kidapawan, Marbel, and Cotabato), who are mostly formators, Parish Social Action Ministers (PSAM), Pangulo sa Alagad (PSA), social action staff and directors reflected on their experiences with Christ, how this training will help them in their formation program, and in building the community of God’s people in their respective areas of mission.
