San Miguel Parish Inaugurates New Side Chapel
A 100-seating capacity air-conditioned side chapel was inaugurated last December 25, 2014, a fitting Christmas gift for the parishioners of San Miguel Parish, Panacan. The ceremony started with the ribbon cutting followed by the solemn blessing by The Most Reverend George B. Rimando, D.D., Auxiliary Bishop/ Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Davao, assisted by Rev. Fr. Jhun Gimeno, DCD, Parish Priest of San Miguel. Bishop Rimando also officiated the Christmas Mass at 9:00 am prior to the blessing of the chapel.
According to Fr. Jhun Gimeno, daily Masses will be held in the chapel already. Special occasions like weddings and baptism can be done there also by request. The chapel is fully equipped with its own facilities, like sound system, keyboard, projector, floor-mounted airconditioning units, tabernacle and liturgical Vessels.
The Chapel was donated by the Sultan Family whose Patriarch, Engr. Rudy Sultan, celebrates his birthday also on christmas day. Engr. Rudy or Kuya Rudy, as he is fondly called by many, is known not only as an active parishioner but also as a very supportive and generous fellow, sharing his blessings for the physical improvements of the parish and in the implementation of its program. The family also dedicated this chapel to their little angel, Terelle John G. Sultan, who succumbed to a very rare disease at a very tender age.
