UM inks moa with Patent office
Davao City (October 16, 2014) – The University of Mindanao (UM) has entered a partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) to strengthen its institutional capacity in any patent-related endeavor such as patent searching and drafting. The partnership will also increase the innovative and inventive research outputs of UM through patent recognition. UM is the 75th member academic institution of the organization and the 4th in Mindanao.
Having been involved in several research engagements nationally and internationally, the University of Mindanao believes this partnership shall put its research capacity to greater heights. “We are very excited for this,” said Dr. Pedro B. San Jose, Executive Vice President for Academics. “This partnership with IPOPHL shall beof essence to our research development adhering to the thrust of the University to produce innovative and relevant researches that may contribute improvement of the society.”
Through this partnership, the IPOPHL shall provide trainings, workshops, and access to patent search. “We, at IPOPHL, shall ensure that our partners, specifically the University of Mindanao, will adhere to the global trend in patent and shall also soon assist other universities in the same light,” said Atty. Ricardo R. Blancaflor, Director General of IPOPHL.
