REMASE honors Seminarians in Golden Jubilee
In the spirit of the Golden Jubilee, the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao (REMASE) celebrates the jubilee day for seminarians.
Themed “Seminarian’s Jubilee Day: Let’s Celebrate, Play and Pray”, the said event is blessed with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by REMASE’s Rector Msgr. Abel C. Apigo, DCD and concelebrated with the seminary formators and some college rectors/formators from different seminaries in Mindanao.
Yells and cheers echo in the entire seminary premises as the seminarians and and the formators parade from the administration building to the newly-built Dennis A. Uy- SFX REMASE gym.
PTY Spiritual Director Fr. Federico Mantica, DCT, in his opening remarks, said: “This day is indeed a joyful celebration. It is not only a celebration but a double celebration. We celebrate the jubilee day for seminarians on the very day intended for the supposed annual Rector’s day.”
He said that it is so significant since these two celebrations are like the two sides of the coin – the rector and the seminarians. “The rector cannot be a rector without the seminarian, while the seminarians in formation are in need of a rector to guide,” he furthered.
After the opening program, wearing their colorful and wonderful costumes, each batch showcase its unique talents as it performs their cheering. The whole gymnasium is filled with joyful and festive sounds of celebration.
Geared with their sports attire, the seminarians play some indoor and outdoor games at the gymnasium, at the field and at the recreation hall.
The said games are the following: basketball, volleyball, marathon, bara throw (outdoor), lawn tennis, table tennis, dama, chess, word factory, push up, billiards and darts (indoor).
The Catechists (Theology 1) was hailed as the over-all champion for the second time.
Theology 1 Class Coordinator Sem. Danilo Diaz II said, “We are not expecting to be the champion. We just did our best no matter if we win or lose. Truly, bringing our name as the Catechists, with one goal and motivation, we are able to accomplish beyond our expectation!”
The Mystics (T2) ranks as 1st place, the Scholastics (T4) as 2nd place, the Healers (PTY) as 3rd place, and the Peacemakers (T3) as 4th place.
After all the games, the seminarians and the formators show off their talents during the Socio-Cultural Night and Awarding Ceremony.
