San Pedro College Alumnus Tops October 2024 Physician Licensure Exam
Davao City, Philippines – San Pedro College (SPC) proudly celebrates a historic achievement as Isaac Edron Jones Orig, RMT, MD, one of its esteemed alumni, has claimed the Top 1 spot in the October 2024 Physician Licensure Examination (PLE). This remarkable accomplishment reflects Dr. Orig’s dedication to excellence and highlights the strong foundation of faith, service, and academic rigor instilled by SPC, a Catholic institution guided by its tag line, “Love Serves.”
Dr. Orig, who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from SPC in 2019, demonstrated his academic skill early on by placing 7th in the Medical Technology Licensure Examination that same year. His journey from SPC to becoming the topnotcher in the PLE is an evidence to his perseverance and the high-quality education provided by the Catholic institution.
The SPC community is thrilled with Dr. Orig’s accomplishments, proudly sharing on their official Facebook page: “We are incredibly proud of Dr. Orig’s success. His journey from our classrooms to now being the topnotcher in the Physician Licensure Exam reflects the commitment and excellence he has shown in every step of his education.”
After his pre-medical studies at SPC, Dr. Orig continued his pursuit of medicine at Davao Medical School Foundation Inc. (DMSFI). This October, DMSFI celebrated a historic milestone as it produced its first-ever PLE topnotcher, marking an important achievement for both the institution and the entire region of Mindanao.
During a press conference, DMSFI President Atty. Alberto Rafael L. Aportadera, JD, praised Dr. Orig’s exceptional performance, saying, “This is a huge achievement for us. After 48 years, we finally have a topnotcher, not just from our school but for all of Mindanao.”
Dr. Orig also shared insights into his journey to success, acknowledging the challenges he faced along the way. “I was shocked when I found out I ranked first in the board exam. It was the hardest test I’ve ever taken, but with the support of everyone here and the training I received, I made it through,” he said, reflecting on the dedication it took to achieve this milestone.
Dr. Orig’s accomplishment is a point of pride for both SPC and DMSFI, as well as a significant milestone in his career. The SPC community eagerly looks forward to his continued contributions to the medical field and the positive impact he is bound to make in healthcare. (Sem. Wyndell Ruiz Q. Posadas)
