Continuing the journey through De Navigatione exhibits

Following the success of the first two exhibits at Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc., and the University of the Immaculate Conception, the De Navigatione series continues with two more significant showcases. These exhibits, opening in early November, highlight the Church’s remarkable journey from 1948 to the present, in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Archdiocese of Davao.

As the Archdiocese of Davao marks its 75th Anniversary, two significant exhibits, De Navigatione Part 3 and De Navigatione Part 4, provide a glimpse into the vibrant history of the Catholic Church in the region. The journey began in 1949 when the Church, under the leadership of Fr. Clovis Thibault, PME, transitioned into a Prelature Nullius and later, into a Diocese in 1966 and an Archdiocese in 1970. These exhibits reflect the Church’s evolution amid post-war struggles, the founding of 41 parishes, seminaries, and Catholic schools—22 of which are named after the Blessed Virgin Mary, guiding the faithful as the “Star of the Sea.”

Opening on November 4, De Navigatione Part 3 at the Ateneo de Davao University honors the significant growth and milestones achieved between 1948 and 1970. On November 6, De Navigatione Part 4, opening at San Pablo Parish Pavilion, Matina, pays tribute to the leadership of the three Filipino archbishops who anchored the Church in the community, shaping the Archdiocese’s life and mission.

As the Archdiocese of Davao celebrates this Diamond Jubilee, these exhibits remind the faithful of the rich history, the guidance of the Blessed Mother, and the steadfast leadership that continues to inspire the Church’s mission of evangelization today.
