A Physical Manifestation of Mary: AdDU’s 3rd Marian Exhibit
The Ateneo de Davao University community conducted its 3rd Marian Exhibit. The exhibition was held from October 7-11, 2024, at the Rodriguez Hall located at Ateneo de Davao University – Jacinto Campus, with a total of 20 images on display. The Ateneo Religious Organizations (ARO), also known as the Faith Formation Assemblage (FFA), spearheaded the event in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Office, the Ignatian Spirituality Formation Office (ISFO), the Chaplains Office, DXGN 89.9 Sprit FM, and the Davao Catholic Herald. The exhibit formally opened on October 7, 2024, at 3:30 pm. The opening began with the remarks by the University Head Chaplain, Fr. Carlos “Charlie” G. Cenzon, SJ. Afterward, Mr. Hadji A. Balajadia presented details about the fundraising campaign for the crafting of the Our Lady of the Assumption’s image. ARO President and FFA Assemblage Head, Ms. Joegold Raphaelle Cajes then delivered their messages. The exhibit was officially opened through the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the blessing of Marian images by Fr. Cenzon. In the end, everyone in attendance gathered together for a salo-salo.
Throughout the week, various activities were in set—notably the Marian Tour, an immersive experience where the visitors can better understand each Marian image with the direction of the student tour guides; the Open Mic Session, a platform where individuals can showcase their talents relating to Mother Mary; and the daily prayer of the Divine Mercy Chaplet / Holy Rosary.
The culmination happened on October 11, 2024. It began with a procession through university grounds while praying the holy rosary alongside an image of Our Lady of Assumption. Immediately followed by a holy mass presided over by Fr. “Charlie” Cenzon. Lastly, a short program and salo-salo then ensued to thank those who made the event possible, including the exhibitors the people/offices working behind the scenes, and especially the visitors who came to explore the exhibit.
Ateneo de Davao University’s Mariam Exhibit is a yearly event that began in 2022. The first exhibit lasted from October 10 to October 14, 2022. The Ateneo Catechetical Instructions League (ACIL), under the leadership of former president Paul Gastanes, managed the annual event. This year, the university has recognized the Marian Exhibit as an official university event, and it has been added to this year’s Calendar of Activities.
“The Marian Exhibit is a physical manifestation of Mary’s love and her role in our lives as our most powerful intercessor. During our current context of struggle and conflict, she continues to be a symbol of devotion, of mercy, and of peace.” Said Joegold Raphaelle Cajes, the ARO President and FFA Assemblage Head.
