The Holy Mass, attended by the 19 Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKKs) within the parish, was a powerful manifestation of faith and unity. Parishioners from neighboring areas and visitors traveled long distances to participate, making the celebration a truly packed and vibrant affair. Along with the Archbishop were Rev. Fr. During the Thanksgiving message, Rev. Fr. He emphasized how the collaborative efforts of various groups made the event truly special, highlighting the role of the youth who dedicated their time and effort in beautifying the church and its surroundings. Their commitment to creating an inspiring and holy atmosphere was deeply appreciated by the entire parish community.
Special recognition was given to the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Officers, with a particular mention of Victoriano Carillo, the PPC President, whose leadership and guidance helped ensure the smooth running of the celebration. Fr. Bontog’s message of thanks underscored the importance of community involvement in parish life, as the 20th Fiesta was not just a religious event but a collective expression of faith, solidarity, and service.
Following the Mass, the celebration continued with a communal lunch, where parishioners and guests gathered to share a meal in the spirit of togetherness. The sense of camaraderie and joy filled the air as the community broke bread, further strengthening the bonds that unite them. The food, generously provided by various donors and families, was a testament to the communal spirit that characterizes the parish.
The presence of the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) community added a special dimension to the celebration, enhancing the excitement and camaraderie between the parishioners and their partner. As a partner community, HCDC’s involvement showed the strong bond of collaboration between the parish and the college, which has been nurtured over three years through various community engagement programs and initiatives.
In the afternoon, the much-anticipated raffle draw took place, adding a touch of excitement to the festivities. Although the rain briefly interrupted the event, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the parishioners, who eagerly stayed to witness the selection of the raffle winners. Despite the inclement weather, the raffle draw proceeded, with the community showing remarkable patience and determination to see the event through. This moment, though challenging, showcased the resilience and joy of the parishioners, making the fiesta even more memorable.
The 20th Fiesta of San Miguel Arkanghel Parish will be remembered not only for its spiritual significance but for the deep sense of unity, faith, and celebration it brought to the people of Marahan. It was a day where rain could not wash away the smiles, and where the spirit of service and thanksgiving resonated in every corner of the community. (Jeralyn Adegue-Palero)
