Commissioned To Serve God
Valuing our spirituality is synonymous with valuing life itself. This was emphasized during a spiritual recollection organized by the Family and Life Apostolate (FLA) and Pangulo sa Kristohanong Banay (PSKB) of St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish, Buhangin, Davao City, on August 18, 2024. The event provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on their relationships with God and their spouses.
The recollection began with a para-liturgy led by Bro. Chorzenie Abundiente and Ms. Dinah Gonser. Attendees shared reflections on the Gospel of John 6:51-58, discussing the Eucharist’s significance in family life and service. Parish Priest Fr. Dionisio Tabiliran emphasized that deepening relationships with God and spouses involves cultivating a prayer life, Eucharistic devotion, and active pastoral work.
In the afternoon, Ms. Nita Balio spoke on “The Joy and Challenges of Families Today,” focusing on overcoming obstacles through humility and prayer. Bro. Maurillo Frias, PSKB Coordinator, followed with a talk on “Forgiveness and Commitment of Couples,” urging reflection on love, loyalty, and Christian family values.
The day concluded with a commissioning Mass, where participants were sent forth to continue serving God and their families.
The month’s activities were capped off with the 19th Founding Anniversary of the FLA/PSKB on August 24, 2024, under the theme “The Joy of Families.” The celebration fostered camaraderie with parlor games, chorale presentations, and raffle prizes. Fr. Dionisio Tabiliran, along with Archdiocesan guests, graced the joyful event. Through these activities, the spirit of stewardship was deeply felt. To God be the glory! (Dinah B.
