Stewards of Creation
In a powerful demonstration of environmental stewardship, the entire community came together on the morning of September 11, 2024, for a Coastal Clean-up and Mangrove Planting activity. The event took place in Barangay Matina Aplaya and Barangay Centro, San Juan Agdao, with a simultaneous Community Clean-up drive also held. This initiative was part of the 73rd Fiesta Celebration of Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), underscoring the institution’s commitment to the Season of Creation and the integrity of the environment.
The Coastal Clean-up and Mangrove Planting activities were direct outcomes of the informative and inspiring Seminar on the Season of Creation held the previous day. This seminar provided participants with valuable insights into the importance of environmental conservation and the role each individual can play in protecting our planet. Armed with this knowledge, students, teachers, and community members eagerly participated in the activities, putting their learning into action.
Thanks to the tireless efforts and coordination of the HCDC Focal Persons and Religious Education (REED) teachers for their dedication to the students, the event was a resounding success. Their collective commitment to this cause was a testament to the spirit of unity and service that defines the HCDC community. By generously sharing their time and energy, they made a tangible impact on the environment, helping to preserve it for future generations.
As the 73rd Fiesta Celebration continues, this event stands out as a meaningful and lasting contribution to the community and the environment. The HCDC community’s involvement in these activities reflected their shared values of care, responsibility, and a deep respect for God’s creation. (Jera Lyn Palero)
