Chorale Workshop Brings Harmony and Learning to Koro Marello Youth Choir of Tagakpan
San Francisco de Asis Parish, Tagakpan — The Koro Marello Youth Choir of San Francisco de Asis Parish hosted a chorale workshop last Sunday, July 28, 2024, drawing 30 enthusiastic young participants across the five zones of the parish. The workshop, a key event in the choir’s preparation for the upcoming 25th Parochial Fiesta, was led by esteemed director of the chapel choir of Ateneo de Davao University, Mr. Don Miguel Niño Doromal of Sub-Dominant 7.
Throughout the three-hour workshop, Mr. Doromal imparted valuable lessons and techniques. He emphasized the importance of unity in the choir’s sound during Mass. Furthermore, he highlighted the collective nature of choral singing. He also stressed the spiritual aspect of their musical service, reminding participants that the ultimate purpose of singing in the Mass is to glorify God.
The workshop featured a series of engaging vocal exercises and games aimed to enhance the participants’ musical and listening skills. The activities were well-received, making the session both enjoyable and enriching.
Rev. Fr. Mario B. Holmina, OSJ, the parish priest, expressed his gratitude to Koro Marello and Mr. Doromal for their dedication and efforts. “We are thankful to Koro Marello for participating in this seminar and to Mr. Doromal for sharing his knowledge and expertise,” he said.
The music ministry coordinator, Mr. Jeffren P. Miguel, and Choir Director, Mr. Art Brian Nano, also expressed their appreciation, noting the importance of such workshops in nurturing the God-given talents and potentials of the youth choir members.
The workshop marks a significant step in the Koro Marello Youth Choir’s journey as they prepare for the parish’s milestone celebration on October 4, 2024.
