The Family

Two sentences stress the importance of the family. 1. “The family that prays together stays together,” said Fr. Patrick Peyton. 2. “No amount of financial success can compensate for failure in the family,” reminds the Mormon faith.

The foundation of society is the family, and for Christians, the role model is the Holy Family of St. Joseph, St. Mary, and Jesus. The world has changed greatly since the 2020-2022 COVID-19 pandemic, profoundly affecting society and families. With less human contact over those three years, many turned to cellphones and social media to fill the gap and combat loneliness. This shift, however, disrupted relationships within families and society. Less talk, togetherness, and sharing have become the norm as family members focus on their cellphones around the clock. Children, in particular, struggle with basic literacy, with communication often resembling telegrams.

Despite these challenges, technology can help restore family and societal bonds with the grace of God. By following Fr. Peyton’s reminder, “The family that prays together stays together,” we can rebuild and strengthen our families. Nothing is impossible for the Lord.
