OLLP SoCCom Quarterly Formation

“You are not so poor that you have nothing to give and you are not so rich that you have nothing to receive.” This was quoted from PCP II by Fr. Ritsche Gamaya in his topic that struck me most and touched my heart so much and made me teary-eyed. It also motivated me to do something on how I can support the Catholic Herald and DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM-Davao.

The SoCCom of Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Bangkal had their quarterly formation this morning, May 12, 2024 on SHAPING GOSPEL BEARERS (SGB); a Catholic Journey to the Media World.’ In relation to the 58th WORLD COMMUNICATION SUNDAY.

It started with a paraliturgy. Following the opening prayer led by Ms. Evelyn Vicencio, from San Roque GKK Kadayawan, Bro. Nestor Fruto, PPC Lay Coordinator of OLLP gave his welcome address full of inspiring messages for us, being called as evangelizers and being a “herald of good news.” It was followed by a brief overview of the day’s agenda by Ms. Christine Mae A. Camus, Arcdiocesan SoCCom In-charge. Ms. Annie Solon Libres, DXGN Program Manager, gave a very interesting presentation about the history of DXGN and Davao Catholic Herald and the products of the Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation, Inc. Father Ritsche Gamaya, DVDMFI Director, discussed the highlights from Inter Mirifica, an exploration of the document’s relevance to social communication.

The speakers reminded and refreshed us about our roles and functions as SoCCom in our respective GKK based on the guidelines and norms of the Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK). They encouraged us to support the Catholic Herald for its continuous publication and allowing DXGN FM to be on air forever.

Again, we have overflowing food for our meal as each GKK had been assigned menu to bring for the occasion. Ms. Juvelyn Jimenez from La Purisima Concepción GKK led the grace before meal.

In the absence of our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Henry Campeon, Ms. Araceli Cabudlan, OLLP Pastoral Coordinator awarded the Certificate of Appreciation to the three Resource Speakers with Jenelle Bernasor as presenter.

Alice Lancian, OLLP PSK Coordinator, awarded the Certificate of Attendance with Jenelle Bernasor also as presenter.
The closing remarks of Vonz Hijada was read by Alice Lancian, in his absence.

The attendees gracefully sang the Jubilee song following the closing prayer by Malou P. Puliran, GKK SoCCom from San Roque GKK, and everybody went home, loaded with knowledge on how to be an effective SoCCom, contemplating on extending time to support the Davao Catholic Herald and DXGN.

My salute to Ms. Vinny Bajo, PPC Secretary and Parish SoCCom Coordinator for another comprehensive job that made the occasion a success.
