On Being a Mother
The mother’s pang during giving birth easily diminishes as soon as she hears the cry and sees her healthy baby for the first time. For nine months, the mother carries and nurtures her baby in her womb. The development of the baby within her body brings joy as well as discomfort, specifically during the last months prior to labor. Then the birth of the baby comes, there’s gladness followed by sleepless nights as the baby adjusts to the new environment. The mother is blessed if she has a wonderful husband that helps her take care of the newborn baby. Then, the baby becomes a toddler, a teenager, and then an adult. Said growing years of a child, a mother’s care, love, and sacrifice are behind it. Whether she is a housewife or a working mother, she definitely encounters trials and hardships in taking good care not only of her child but the whole family as well. With that, it is only fitting to give importance to all mothers not only this Mother’s Day but every day.
As a mother of two young adult girls, I can say that it has been a roller coaster ride. There were ups and downs, thank God I was blessed with a supportive husband during the early years of child rearing to our children. Sadly, he passed away before our children became teenagers. After which, my mother and sister became my support group as they helped me raise my children. Now, the kids have grown up, the eldest is in the process of finding employment while the youngest is graduating in college. By God’s grace my prayer is that they will have a wonderful future ahead. I believe that a mother’s prayer and support will help our children live their life to the fullest.
Happy Mother’s Day Everyone!!!
Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of motherhood. May all mothers be like Mama Mary humble and meek. May they treat their children with utmost love and affection.
Also, may mothers have the support they need from their husband and other family members as they take care of their children and build their homes.
This we pray, in Jesus mighty name and thru the intercession of Mama Mary, the mother of us all. Amen.
