Diocesan Clergy of Mindanao 2024 Gathered with Hope for Integral Ecology

The 46th Diocesan Clergy of Mindanao (DCM) Convention kicked off on February 5-7, 2024, hosted by the Diocese of Marbel in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, with the theme “Walking Together with Hope in the Path of Integral Ecology.” The opening Mass was presided over by Bishop Cerilo U. Casicas, D.D., the Bishop of the Diocese of Marbel.

On the second day of the convention, Fr. Rey Raluto, the DCM Vice President, delivered an insightful talk on the theme. This is followed by a presentation on the history of DCM by Fr. Ben Torreto, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Cotabato. The clergy then gathered for a meeting to discuss their concerns and issues.

After a delicious lunch, the priests engaged in a spirited sports activity at Notre Dame of Marbel University, South Cotabato Gym. The team represented by Fr. Ian Jade I. Balistoy, Fr. Ian Glenn G. Bungabong, Rev. Gerson E. Gepolongca, Fr. Raymund D. Bagohin, and Fr. Edie Mar R. Bulfa were the champions for the Mobile Legends fun game. Fr. Noel A. Gastones & Fr. Julius Cesar L. Anas also won as champions for the lawn tennis doubles. There were also special awards for the Diocese of Tagum: the Youngest Minister representing the gathering is given to Rev. Gerson E. Gepolongca, and the most attendees with (66) sixty-six delegates. The bishops had their own meeting at The Farm Carpenter Hill. Throughout the day, the convention was enriched with prayers, including a Eucharistic celebration and a holy hour, fostering a sense of spiritual unity among the attendees.

The convention provided an opportunity for the clergy to relax and enjoy each other’s company. The Diocesan Clergy of Mindanao 2024 Convention served as a platform for priests and bishops to come together, share knowledge, and strengthen their commitment to integral ecology. With hope in their hearts, they went, ready to bring positive change to their respective dioceses and communities.

For the year 2025, the Archdiocese of Zamboanga will host the Diocesan Clergy of Mindanao (DCM) Convention. (Sara Mae D. Sotomil)
