Zone 6 Christmas Party For 2024
It was January 6, 2024, and there we were, gathered for a Zonal Christmas Party. Despite the date, we decided to hold our celebration then, a tradition born out of our busy schedules during December 2023. This practice had evolved into our post-holiday Thanksgiving Christmas party, a time to come together and revel in the joy that the past month had brought, two years after the initial slowdown of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The festivities had commenced with a “Kasaulogan Sa Pulong” (KSP) at NHA Sta. Cruz Chapel at 6:00 PM, graced by the presence of the GKK Servant Leaders (GSL) and members from the five (5) GKKs: GKK Sta. Cruz-NHA, GKK Fatima, GKK OMPH Mahayag, GKK San Antonio Buhangin, and GKK San Vicente. The roles for the evening had been allocated, showcasing the collaborative spirit of the GKKs. Before the closing prayer, the presider, Zone 6 Coordinator of PSL, had lightened the mood with a humorous introduction of the new and renewed PSL of Zone 6.
Moving to the NHA gym for a grander venue, we had been greeted by a sea of color-coded attires, adding a lively touch to the gathering. Each GKK had represented by its distinct color – GKK Fatima in “blue,” San Antonio in “white,” San Vicente in “red,” GKK Sta. Cruz in “green,” and GKK Mahayag in “yellow.” The variety of hues had mirrored the vibrant Christmas spirit we had all shared. Hosted by our enthusiastic youth, Jonas, the program had unfolded with grace, beginning with an opening prayer, the national anthem, and welcome remarks from Evelyn Sereniña, PSK of GKK Sta.Cruz – NHA, setting the stage for a delightful fellowship dinner.
Joined by our parish worker Sharon and seminarian Mark, the evening had been filled with presentations from each GKK. While dancing to Christmas songs had been a popular choice, the modern dance talents of our Zone 6 youth and the chorale rendition by our PSL had garnered the most enthusiastic response from the audience. It had been heartening to witness the active participation of performers in their senior years, proving that age was no barrier to enjoying life. They had not only danced but also engaged in parlor games that required swift movements, and we had thanked the Lord that everyone had remained injury-free and in good spirits.
The Christmas Party had concluded with grateful closing remarks from the PSK of San Antonio Buhangin and the traditional exchanging of gifts. As we had wrapped up the festivities, everyone had pitched in to return chairs and tables to their storage in the multi-purpose area and ensured the proper disposal of waste.
Another year has come to an end, and a new one has begun. Happy New Year to all! (Marieta Comighud)
