A Chronicle of Faith, Life, and Hope

The 2nd Parochial Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at Deca Homes, Tugbok, Davao City held on December 12, 2023, was a vibrant celebration of Faith, Life, and Hope. Aptly themed, “Birhen sa Guadalupe, Piniyalan sa Kinabuhi ug Paglaum”, the Fiesta was a testament to the community’s shared faith and unity.

The festivities began with the dosenaryo prayers and masses, a 12-day spiritual preparation leading up to the main event. Each day was marked with various activities, creating a sense of anticipation and excitement within the community.

The fiesta officially kicked off on December 01, 2023, with an opening parade. The Motorcade, participated by the seven (7) Zones under the parish, was a sight to behold, symbolizing unity and community spirit. The day culminated with the School Night, a talent showcase featuring performances from different school staff and teachers from each participating school under the parish.

On December 04, 2023, the Barangay Night took center stage. The talent showcase of barangay officials and staff was a celebration of local culture and community spirit, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.

The Variety Show on December 06, 2023, was a highlight of the fiesta. Members from the different parish ministries showcased their talents, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The grand day, December 12, 2023 began with a Pontifical Mass, celebrated by Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, D.D. The sermon focused on the significance of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the lessons that can be learned from her humility and compassion.

Activities flooded the day beginning with the Bahay Kubo contest, a creative display of traditional Filipino huts. The Basketball Friendship Game then followed between the Davao Clergy and the DECA selected players fostered sportsmanship and camaraderie. Last on the list was the Zone Festival Dance Presentation where a cultural spectacle happened, showcasing local talents and culture.

The 2nd Parochial Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish was a celebration that transcended age and social status, uniting everyone in a shared experience of faith, joy, and community spirit.
