2023 is a very trying year. The world is facing problems that seem insurmountable.

We have wars, drought, forest fires, hunger, floods, earthquakes, etc. It seems that all the bad things that can happen were lumped together and tied from January to December 2023. Some may have given up hope. If only the world will remember that 2,000 years ago, God the Father sent his only son to earth to save us. His message when he was here was to give faith, hope and love.

I believe that God will never abandon us. But we must do our share. We must turn away from sin, indifference, greed and pride. God did not create the earth to be destroyed. God did not create us so we will suffer. Yes, now the atmosphere is dark and gloomy. Where is the light? If we turn to God, we will be the light.

It is fitting that we are preparing for Advent and for Christmas. This is the way to save us from all tension, fear and doubt. God is with us. Let us go to him as we carry his gifts of faith, hope and love.
