Why the Food Scarcity?

The COVID-19 problem greatly affected the world from March 2020 to December 2022. The world during the COVID period, could not focus on the problem of food. We know that by 2050, our population will be 8 billion to about 9 billion.

The world’s experts, international groups like the United Nations, the Food and Agriculture Organizations knew about the failure to plant, harvest and store enough food supplies during the COVID crisis. They were hoping that in 2023, the world would work overtime to plant and harvest enough food. Sadly, 2023 brought more misery. Droughts all over the world meant less land for farming. Giant forest fires compounded the danger. As if droughts and fires were not enough, the world had to go through a series of natural and man-made disasters all in a space of twelve months from super typhoons, big earthquakes, flash floods, wars (Sudan, Ukraine, Israel, Africa, etc.).

The 2023 harvest is certainly not enough to cover the food deficits caused by COVID 19 from 2020 to 2022 and the 2023 calamities. We should recall the lessons from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Compare it with the efforts of the people of Nineveh who repented, put on sack clothes and called on God for mercy and help. Fasting and prayer is needed more than ever.
