The Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa Hosts the Culmination of the 400 Years of Christianity on August 25th at the RVM Sports Complex. All parishes throughout Palawan were represented in what appeared to be a 10,000 crowd in attendance. The Vicariate of Taytay, a six hour drive from Puerto Princesa, was well represented and accommodated by the warm hearted locals of Puerto Princesa in a two-day Culmination of Events.
The Holy Mass was presided by Cardinal Jose Advincula, Archbishop of Manila with Bishops Socrates Mesiona of Puerto Princesa and Broderick Pabillo of Taytay and the clergy from both vicariates.
Bishop Mesiona acknowledged the different groups, ministries and parishes which took part in the celebration. He emphasized the support and collaboration extended by the LGUs and provincial government and most importantly, he recognized Bishop Pabillo whose main idea of this celebration came from. Bishop Pabillo, on the other hand expressed his profound admiration to Bishop Mesiona who showed confidence they can do it together, with the help of the faithful and the secular communities.
The Eucharistic Celebration ended with the lighting of the 400 candles symbolizing the 400 years, the orchestrated rendition of their Opening and Closing Theme Songs by the 400-singer choir, the animation of these theme songs by both the lay and the clergy and the display of fireworks afterwards.
A cultural show and a mini concert took place after the final blessing and dismissal. (Blaze Cantaros)
