Assumption Parish Celebrates its 64th Fiesta

The image of Our Lady of the Assumption visited the 32 Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKKs) under the Parish jurisdiction to start the parochial preparation for the spiritual and communal celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This Marian Pilgrimage was set forth from July 13 to August 13, 2023 to visit the GKK/Chapel every night starting from San Pedro Chapel – Ponciano GKK (Zone 1) and ended in San Isidro Chapel – Alonzo GKK (Zone 9). This activity was so fitting and in-line with the General Theme of the Fiesta: “With Mary, Towards the Fulfillment of the Synodal Church.”

The Novena Masses cover the different Sub-Themes, namely: August 6 – We are called to Listen, presided by Fr. Alde Bureros, SSS. August 7 – We are called to Trust in the Providence of God, presided by Fr. Randy Vergara, SSS. August 8 – We are called to be an Intercessor for One Another, presided by Fr. Walker, SSS. August 9 – We are called to a Deeper Faith in Jesus, Presided by Fr. Archimedes ‘Kim’ Lachica, SJ – who happened to be the current Episcopal Vicar for Religious of the Archdiocese, the said Mass is sponsored by the RVMs. August 10 – We are called to be Generous in our Life of Sacrifice, presided by Fr. Roy Mejias, DCD – the Parish Priest of St. Jude. August 11 – We are called to Follow Jesus by Taking up Our Cross and Deny Oneself, presided by Fr. Jessie Argoncillo, SSS. August 12 – We are called to a Faithful Love that Heals, presided by Fr. Felmar Binangbang, SDV. August 13 – We are called to be Courageous Amidst Life’s Vicissitudes, presided by Fr. Israel Cruz, SSS. August 14 – We are Called to Mission of Love, presided by Fr. Reynaldo Capili, SSS.

Then, the 64th Parish Fiesta was also flavored with Cultural Night, a very much awaited festivity that was deferred by the pandemic. The Cultural Night showcased the talents of the parish youth, some mandated church organizations, the different Liturgical groups and GKK leaders and members. We had the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation presided by Archbishop Valles.

The finale, the fiesta itself, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. was greeted with the morning Diana, the Solemn Procession beginning from the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes – Mabini GKK down to the Parish Church in F. Torres. We had the opening Mass presided by Archbishop Romulo Valles, D.D. The 9:30am Mass led by Auxiliary Bishop George Rimando, D.D. and concelebrated by Archbishop Emeritus Fernando Capalla, D.D. The noon Mass presided by the Parish Priest, Fr. Marlon Reyes, SSS. Msgr. Julius Rodulfa, DCD presided the 4:00 in the afternoon Mass. And the last Mass @ 6:00pm was presided by Msgr. Paul Cuison, JCD.

Likewise, the 64th Fiesta Anniversary of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish coincided with the 66th Foundation Anniversary of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (Philippine Province). The parish was so jubilant that she distributes food for breakfast sponsored by DEPEd and SSS community, lunch and dinner were served to all and provided by the catering services sponsored by generous friends and parishioners. Viva Jesus, Viva Maria!
