A Night of Talent: Musikahan ng Caminantes
The vibrant Barangay Bunawan Covered Court was filled with excitement and anticipation as the parishioners of St. James the Apostle Parish gathered on July 17, 2023, at 7 pm for a night of musical enchantment. Titled “Musikahan ng Caminantes,” the talent night centered around the theme “Kumonyon, Partisipasyon ug Misyon kauban si Santiago Apostol” (Communion, Participation, and Mission with St. James the Apostle), signifying the unifying spirit of the event. Under the guidance of their parish priest, Fr. Rolando O. Mandreza with the leadership of Mr. Obed Quintano as the PYA coordinator, youth from Zones 1 to 7 eagerly took the stage to showcase their talents and celebrate their faith.
Fr. Mandreza opened the event with a heartfelt message that reminded us of the need to come together and support one another. It was his words that set the stage for a night filled with joy and unity. The talents of the young people from Zones 1 to 7 mesmerized our hearts every time they performed. The richness of the Filipino culture, as well as the rich talent within our parish community, were shown through beautiful singing and dancing. In a delightful twist of fate, Zone 5 emerged victorious not once but twice. Lenie Lou Baguio, the winner of the singing contest wowed the audience with her powerful vocals and heartfelt rendition, while the winner of the dance contest dazzled us with their impressive moves and graceful choreography. It was a moment of immense pride for Zone 5 and a testament to the abundance of talent within our midst.
It was indeed a night to remember “Mikahan ng Caminantes” where the two sides of faith and talent came together amazingly. The dedication and hard work of people in the background would not have allowed such an extraordinary event to take place. Behind the scenes, their efforts and careful planning have played an essential role in this experience; we are profoundly grateful to them for their voluntary service. As we bid farewell to this harmonious celebration, let us carry the spirit of “Kumonyon, Partisipasyon ug Misyon kauban si Santiago Apostol” and “Basta Santiago, Aktibo! Basta Santiago, Talentado! Basta Santiago, Mahigugmaon sa Ginoo!” in our hearts. Let us continue to nurture the talents of our youth and strengthen the bond that unites us all. (Joylyn B. Jalos – LCCP Secretary)
