Caritas Christi urget nos (2 Cor 5:14)

“It is the love of Christ that urges us to do this”.

These were the words of Rev. Msgr. Paul Cuison as the 6th Archdiocesan Nourishment Center was inaugurated and blessed on the last day of June, 2023 which is located at Metro Circle Bankerohan Public Market. This inauguration was made possible because of the generosity of the late Atty. Eugenia Celi through Ms. Maria Stella Marfori-Celi property owner where the new center is located.

“Caritas Christi urget nos, it is the love of Christ that urges us to do this,” says Rev. Msgr. Paul Cuison, Director of the Archdiocesan Nourishment Center after the blessing. When asked why ANC keeps on opening more centers around and within the city, he can only turn to ANC’s slogan.

Moreover, Msgr. Paul said that the feeding they do at ANC is the best way to evangelize as it is charity in action. What better way to experience God’s love than be fed with warm food. Also, feeding as he put it is just the beginning, it is only the starting point as much can still be done with the center’s presence. To add, before the inauguration, there happened an orientation about dental hygiene.

With the current inflation post pandemic and other financial concerns, it was heartwarming to witness the generosity of the Davaoeños which helped bear ANC Bankerohan. Around 100 children will be fed with lunch, daily from Mondays to Saturdays under the care of the Living the Gospel Community sisters headed by Sr. Merge Torres, LGC.

When asked to give his message, Archbishop of Davao, Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D. said, “what we do in life, echoes in eternity.” As he was also touched by the graciousness of the people who made ANC Bankerohan possible, he saw how slowly, STEWARDSHIP is lived, as it is indeed a lifestyle.

In the very near future, the 7th center will also be known to the public which is located at the PME Resthouse near Mergrande Ocean Resort.
