Birthday Appeal for Continuous Evangelization Through Mass Media

Diocese of Mati – It was precisely an auspicious day for Most Rev. Abel Apigo, D.D. as he celebrated his 55th birthday on May 21, 2023. What made it even special was the bishop’s appeal for the generous hearts of the lay faithful to share for the procurement of new transmitter for the radio stations of the diocese.

“I am using my 55th birthday as the vehicle to launch the campaign “Gasa Mo Pagsangyaw Ko”. My appeal is that instead of giving me personal gifts, may I request you to help me raise fund so I can buy the transmitter unit worth 3 million pesos,” he said.

He explained that the transmitters of the radio stations really need replacement due to longevity in service.

He added that he can only do more in the work of evangelization with the help of the people.

“The church would feel guilty before the Lord if she did not utilize the powerful means that human skill (mass media) is daily rendering,” he added.

During his birthday program, there was a Power Point presentation revealing the metamorphosis of the two radio stations, DXHM-AM and DXDV 97.5 Spirit FM.

Bp. Abel Apigo expressed his profound gratitude to the people in the basic eclessial communities who unselfishly went out of their way to give for the said cause.
