Holy Trinity Sunday Is National BEC/GKK Sunday
July 28-29, 2018, was not just a historic date but a very significant date for the Catholic Church in the Philippines. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) approved in their CBCP 116th Plenary Assembly that the Trinity Sunday every year will be celebrated as BEC (Basic Ecclesial Community) Sunday throughout the Philippines. For this year 2023, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity will be celebrated on Sunday, June 4.
Our celebration here in the Archdiocese of Davao is guided by the theme: “Santisima Trinidad: Tuburan sa Kahiusahan sa Pagpanag-uban sa Panaw sa Misyon sa GKK sa Diwa sa Pagkapiniyalan.” The Holy Trinity is indeed the source of our communion, participation and mission in our journey together as BEC/ GKK in the spirit of stewardship. In Davao, at present, we have a total of one thousand eight hundred fifty one (1,851) GKK’s.
On June 3, 2023, Saturday, we will have our Archdiocesan Celebration with a Eucharistic Celebration in San Pedro Cathedral to be presided over by our dear Archbishop, the Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, D.D. at 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon and within the Eucharistic celebration, there will be a sending-forth of our GKK Ministry Coordinators, followed by the Appreciation and Thanksgiving Celebration of our GKK Servant Leaders in traditional Filipiniana fashion in Grand Menseng Hotel.
The following day, Holy Trinity Sunday, the celebration will be in the parishes. There will be masses with sending-forth of GSL’s, inputs and sharings, sports activities, fellowship meals, and community cultural programs.
In these activities, so many stories that will edify, inspire and aglowing will be created and shared in the GKK’s and PARISHES. (SoCCom | St. Francis of Assisi Parish, La Verna)
