Aurora, a Little Closer to the Blessed Virgin
MAY 13 (4:30 AM) – The St. John Paul II Parish, together with the devotees of our Blessed Mother, celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima through a dawn procession called Aurora.
Before the procession, Fr. Russell A. Bantiles, Parish Priest, took the opportunity to catechize and tell people a brief history of the event. Being the Pope who beatified Francisco and Jacinta Marto, two of the children who were present in the apparitions of the Blessed Mother in Fatima, St. John Paul II is probably happy that a procession is done in honor of these events.
Despite the sleepiness, the devotees showed their warm love through singing and accompanying our Mother from the parish to Crossing 22 Los Amigos and back.
The procession was held with the image of Our Lady of Fatima placed on a simple float carried by four devotees.
While the procession was ongoing, the devotees recited the Holy Rosary and sang the “Sa Trese sa Mayo” in a loud voice. Entrusting themselves to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the devotees brought white handkerchiefs and waved them in the air during every chorus of the song.
As there are 6 apparitions, this will only be the first among the many auroras to be held within the parish. The procession concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass.
The parish will continue initiating these dawn processions with the hope that parishioners will develop a closer relationship to the Blessed Virgin. (Argie Lico | St. John Paul II Parish SoCCom)
