Every Gift is a Responsibility
EVERY GIFT IS A RESPONSIBILITY. This is a CBCP Statement on Stewardship. We acknowledge every gift, nourish it, and gratefully share it with others.
Last April 28, 2023, the San Pedro Vicariate composed of San Pedro, St. Jude, Our Lady of Assumption, Our Mother of Perpetual Help, St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary and San Alfonso Maria de Ligouri Parishes was given a seminar-workshop on stewardship and encouraged all church leaders and faithful workers to aim for stewardship and empathy on all aspects of a conversation. Over 40 participants were present and had the opportunity to learn from the Formation Team’s vast experience and wisdom on the matter.
It was emphasized during the deepening by Msgr. Rodulfa that Life is a Gift from God and we are stewards. We received the Immense Gift of Faith as stewards and it is a calling to serve one another. He put emphasis on the power of language and how it impacts everyone. He also added the importance of giving lectures about stewardship for we are all in the process of transitioning our church into a more realistic way of approaching a situation.
Most Rev. George Rimando, D.D., the Auxiliary Bishop of Davao is also part of the formation team. In his sharing, he elaborated on the Seven stewardship principles.
- Life is a gift from God.
- Identity
- Immense Gift of Faith. A Way of Life
- A spirituality
- Channels of God’s Providence to One Another.
- A Calling to Serve One Another
- God be our Priority
Despite being different, they are inextricably linked. Bishop George also presented and emphasized the Four Stewardship Core Values to show intrinsic connectedness such as Responsibility with Commitment to service, the ability to respond proactively to the increase of the gifts(Mt.25:14-30) Trust, we have to keep in mind that God trusted us first (Mt.6:25-26). Gratitude, we all know that life is a gift from God and it is worth sharing with others, and Charity, God’s merciful love is the foundation of Charity ( 1 John 4:8)
This seminar-workshop will continue in all seven vicariates to make sure that the message of stewardship is shared and understood by everyone. (Jeralyn Palero, St. Jude Thaddeus Shrine Parish SoCCom | Photos: HCDC Social Communication Students Nico Montecillo, Laura Mae Roxas, Shayne Anzano)
