Disconnect to Reconnect

The first day of April 2023, a total of 139 participants were present during the held Youth Lenten Recollection at San Roque Parish-Malabog where the main purpose of the event is to provide for the youth, the foundation they need in order to reflect solemnly during the Season of Lent.

The speaker, Sem. Amiel E. Arado, compared life to a pair of shoes. As we continue to tread this world, we will be dealing with so much people and uncertainties. As our shoes get mixed with others, some pairs can be the same in size, color or design but we will always choose to pick the one that we own, because no pair can exactly replace it. That is how God values us, He made us all exist with our individual purposes. No one can ever portray the role of being yourself, it was you, it is you and it will always be you. Bro. Amiel also gave emphasis to the importance of disconnection. Disconnection with the earthly things in order to reconnect with God.

The event ended with a Holy Mass presided by Fr. Arnold Balquinto, Parish Priest. “The most powerful connection in the world is prayer”, he said in his sharing. It was a reminder to the youth to be prayerful at all times, a way to communicate with God, the giver of life.

As a youth, we are not only the future of the church but also the present. May we always strive to become good followers of Christ, who died for our sins. Give yourself an amount of time for disconnection with the worldly things, and focus on the reconnection with God. After all, our connection with God is the most valuable treasure, no amount of money can ever afford. (Jozeil Comapas Crodua)
