Alay Kapwa Pundok Banay sa GKK
St. Joseph Parish (Patron Saint of Workers), Sasa, Davao City — ALAY KAPWA 2023 with the theme, “ALANG SA SINODO NGA SIMBAHAN: Kumonyon, Partisipasyon, Misyon”.
The coming of Lent has once again given us the opportunity to share with our brothers and sisters who have suffered from poverty and injustices, our unity, cooperation and solidarity through the Alay Kapwa as Stewards of God’s graces.
Christ’s death on the cross gave us strength so that we can offer our time, talent and treasure to our neighbors.
An important element during Lent is to recognize not only the suffering and sacrifice of Christ but also the suffering of others, so everyone is encouraged to strengthen the Alay Kapwa campaign.
On February 24, 2023, the Alay Kapwa Pundok Banay Orientation held at St. Joseph Parish was attended by all the PSK, PSA and Secretaries of different GKKs.
The launching of Alay Kapwa Pundok Banay on February 26 during the 7:30a.m. mass presided by Fr. Bong Dublan was attended by PSKs, PSAs and Treasurers of GKKs who were sent forth for the purpose.
On February 27, Alay Kapwa Pundok Banay in every GKK started and was done by visiting from house to house in every family of Pundok Banay which is done in a solemn manner.
The visit of Alay Kapwa to each house was led by the Tigpasayon sa Pundok Banay (TPB) and one of the GKK Servant Leaders (GSLs).
Families who were already visited by TPB/GSL have different reactions and comments. Many were grateful to the leaders of the GKK because through visitation, they experienced the attention and care for them as members of the GKK, they got to know each other and their faith increased especially by the prayers done for their families.
Some families visited were timid but their generosity was visible while others shared the joy they experienced that they were able to help the most needy through Alay Kapwa.
Others expressed that they were happy because even though they could not participate in the GKK activities, they were still visited and the GKK leaders took their time to share the goodness of God and hoped they could also share to others by participating in GKK and parish activities especially in Alay Kapwa.
Others were hesitant at first but later they responded and participated in Alay Kapwa.
Other members of the family were curious about Alay Kapwa and Sinodo while some families refused to participate in Alay Kapwa due to work schedules.
The visitation of TPB and GSL in the family of Pundok Banay is going on everyday based on their schedules and will end before Holy Week. (Amelita Desquitado)
