“The Catechists, Walking Together as Witnesses of the New Life in Christ”
This September, we do not only celebrate different vocations but we also celebrate with our catechists. These people voluntarily and wholeheartedly commit themselves to bring the baptized to be in communion with God and with the Church. To be a catechist, therefore is a gift and a lifelong task. This truth makes the prophetic mission even more challenging.
The catechists value their ongoing formation given and shared in an integral way. They always long to know, serve and love Him more. They are witnesses because they never stop seeking, listening, learning and living the way of Christ, the word and works of God.
As St. Augustine said “All of you who stand fast in the Lord are a holy seed, a new colony of bees, the very flower of our ministry and fruit of our toil, my joy and my crown.” With these words, together with the John XXIII Catechetical Center headed by Rev. Fr. Roy Mejias and all catechists around the diocese, let us in celebration, pray with them during the Catechetical Month Launching at the San Pedro Cathedral Parish tomorrow at 9:00a.m. to be presided by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao.
