Two-Day Feast
Last June 28, 2022 was the 42nd Anniversary of the Dedication of the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Pedro where the symbolical re-enactment lighting of candles on the 12 pillars of the church were done by the 12 families who belong to the Hijos de Davao or members of the families who are descendants of the original settlers in Davao.
The 12 families symbolized the 12 tribes of Israel and the 12 apostles in which the number 12 represents perfection as God Himself is perfect. The archbishop, in his homily was proud having known these families who are part of the rich culture of Davao.
The next day during the 174th Feast Day of San Pedro 3 among the masses where celebrated by bishops. The 6:30 a.m. mass was celebrated by Bishop of Mati, Most Reverend Abel C. Apigo, D.D.. The pontifical mass then followed at 8:00 a.m. presided by the Archbishop of Davao, Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, D.D. and the 9:30 a.m. English Mass was celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop, Most Reverend George B. Rimando with the theme, “Dinasig sa Espiritu Santo Uban ni San Pedro, Dungan Kita sa Pagpanaw Diha sa Pagtoo.”
Activities at the parish were also held like the GKK Pilgrimage of the image of San Pedro and Socio-Cultural Night as well as the Clergy and Religious Night. Despite the on-going pandemic safety protocols, the parishioners were filled with zeal from planning to execution of these activities.
