St Josemaria Escriva editorial

Do things out of Love

When we were children, we were taught to dream big, to aspire, dream of acquiring things, properties; successes which the world has defined. Because of this, we have been so focused on our future jobs, professions, even our ideal partners. It’s either go big or go home. This is why we were easily depressed, easily downhearted, because by the time we realized we could not be big in this lifetime, that our definition of BIG was superficial and external, we stopped trying, we stopped living.

In connection, it was a taboo to just be happy with little successes, with day-to-day achievements, with small work that we even forgot what we are truly here for, to live a life full of love. Our focus was so zoomed in on being WHAT rather than being WHO. For one, if what was instilled in us was to be a BETTER person instead of a SUCCESSFUL person, it would have been a different world.

But it’s not too late, our work, our efforts, everything that we do, if we just do them out of LOVE, it will create a difference, especially when we offer it to the Lord, as we become instruments of his salvific mission.

May St. Josemaria Escriva, the saint of the ordinary, inspire to offer our efforts as work of God.
