RYM 2022: Golden Jubilee for Youth
Last 11th of June, the Redemptorist Youth Ministry was endowed with overwhelming, compassionate, and dynamic youth as they celebrated Parish Youth Day 2022 which happens every year as they showcase creativity through their talents.
Though we are still in a pandemic, no one could have stopped the young in showing their artistic features as everyone watched, loved, and enjoyed the program planned and executed by RYM-Local Coordinating Team together with the Redemptorist Youth Mission Team.
This event is in line with the parish fiesta activities honoring its dearest patron, Our Mother of Perpetual Help (OMPH), with its theme – “Pagpaambit sa Bulawanong Gasa sa Inahan sa Kanunayng Panabang”, in observance of the Golden Jubilee Celebration, the 50th founding anniversary of the parish here in the City of Davao.
As they gathered to commence the program for the Youth Day at the St. Alphonsus Theological and Mission Institute (SATMI) Gym, the vibrant spectrum surprised everyone’s eyes. The creative youthful parade per parochial zone done on the OMPH grounds wowed the crowd. The atmosphere then became more energetic and livelier when it started off with deafening sounds from the drumbeaters of Mugnapak.
The event, in addition, would not be completed without entreating for guidance through the prayers of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, for its icon was handed to each zone to show spiritual comradeship and solidarity, and asking the grace of protection to the Almighty during their opening liturgy led by the ministry’s evangelization committee.
The Parish Youth Day was not just a celebration of young talents and about zonal competition, but it was also a venue to discuss the history of the OMPH parish in Davao as well as catechesis about Mary, our mother. These short, yet meaningful input sessions were being handled and given by Rev. Fr. Joey Trillo, CSsR, Assistant Parish Priest, OMPH-DVO, and Rev. Fr. Jomil Baring, CSsR, Provincial Director of the RYM – who also helped these young people to understand the true essence of fellowship and camaraderie.
“Dulang Inato” – a conceptualized parlor game jumping from one station to the other by shuffled players (youth parishioners) while aiming the shortest time like the Amazing Race was played. It involved learning, building character, and getting to know everyone within the groups.
As though saving the best for last, the latter part of their program was the highlight when Zone IV (GKKs Sto. Rosario, NIC, San Miguel, and Sta. Maria) presented Brazil’s vast adversity of Amazon and achieved first place during the International Dance Festivity. While on the other hand, the pageantry of RYM leaves the legacy on that distinctive night of bringing the advocacy which crowned the gold-designed stage with Jake Remoreras and Jennisha Tagaytay as Mr. and Ms. RYM 2022, both from Zone VI (GKKs San Vicente, Fatima, Sta. Cruz, San Antonio, and Mahayag). (Dui Talines & Christy Olaivar)
