Msgr. Boni Burlaza in the eyes of his Priest Nephew

I have known Tiyo Monsi since 2005. It was the first time I met him in Camotes Island. From then on, we started to connect with each other. We would always find time to meet if chance permits us to see each other or even via messenger and through mobile phone. It’s Tiyo Monsi who would always initiate connection even with our family members.

I’ve known him to be a very fine man, full of wisdom and goodness inside and out. But what I love about him most is his wit and jokes whenever we were together. I’ve learned so much about priesthood because of him. His pieces of advice, experiences and learnings are very much in me now. He would always tell me: “Pagbinuotan Dodong, bisag dili ta angayan ug takos tungod sa atong sala pero paningkamot sa pagpakabalaan. MASAYOP MAN, DANGOP GAYOD SA KAHITAS-AN!”. These words from him always made me feel being listened to and loved. He may be gone but in my heart he will stay forever.

Vaya Con Dios dear Servant of God! Salamat Tiyo Monsi for everything! I will surely miss you. See you puhon! (Fr. Sherman Lakandula Garciano, MSC)
