Bishop Medil on holy week: not holiday but HOLY DAY
Most Rev. Medil Aseo in his homily during Palm Sunday, April 10 at Christ the King Cathedral, invited parishioners to be one with the Lord Jesus in His passion, as this is His sign of love which saved us. The red chasuble, which celebrants all over the world are supposed to wear, is inspired by this act of great love, which also reminds people of just how powerful it is that it can inspire for change. Bishop Medil encouraged everyone to center ones reflection to the sufferings Jesus have gone through because of His love for humankind which moves the body into metamorphosis.
Once a week in every year Catholics stop and reflect on how great Jesus is that he submitted Himself to experience being human, suffer and die. This remembrance of His sacrifice on the cross renews the hope of Christians all over the world.
The Bishop zoomed in on the characters present in the gospel reading who, almost all of them had flaws and were not so good examples of being true Christians.
Peter for example, had denied Jesus three times.
Pilate thought of himself more and washed his hands so people would not take the blame on him.
Herod was so filled with ambitions and attachment for money that he was blinded.
Judas allowed his selfishness to govern his whole being.
These people were not very nice, but for these people JESUS DIED.
