PARISH LENTEN RECOLLECTION: Desires, Mission and Love of the Redeemer
The Lenten Recollection was conducted for two days on April 4 & 5, 2022 at St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish, Buhangin which had a great number of participants.
The very essence of this holy event is to remind us of God’s willingness to touch our hearts, to be closer to us despite our sinfulness and we participate not just because it is our duty but because of our response to His love. We believe that by God’s grace our faith may grow more by knowing who we are. (children of God)
We are thankful to our Resource Speaker, Rev. Fr. William “Yen” Cajes who heartily shared his knowledge and wisdom regarding our desires towards our Mission and towards our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
Messianic Title. “Jesus Son of David” as cried out by the blind man longing to see Jesus. Faith in his heart led him to be healed. Before that, Jesus addressed this personal question not only for the blind man but to each one of us. What do you want Me to do for you? Jesus became 100% human to be with us and wash away our original sin with his blood. This story has ended long ago but until now is inspiring us to have faith.
Our speaker talked about the significance of that desire for holiness and great love of our Lord Jesus Christ which made Him do all these great missions before His ascension. He is the root of our salvation.
His paschal mystery shows us the pains, desperation, and all other obstacles that weaken our determination for eternal life. Though Jesus’ sufferings are a pity we know that He has won victory and because of this great sacrifice we, by the grace of God enter “metanoia”.
Who we are. We are children of God; we have received this title through Jesus. We have acquired our citizenship as He died on the cross and we too, share in his messianic work.
Being one of the Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katlingban (GKK) Servant Leaders (GSLs), we are called to be the Lord’s instrument to create in people a desire for holiness by offering ourselves selflessly as He did.
We are one community trying our best to follow God’s commandments truly in our hearts as we take our time to love everyone especially the least of our brethren.
No retreat, No surrender will be our motto as we return and share the blessing and grace we have received through this recollection. We are thankful to our Redeemer for by His holy cross, we have been redeemed. (Maria Dexie Calvo, GKK SoCCom)
